CHOP

Overview

Dr. Robert Grundmeier and Dean Karavite at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia will collaborate with Dr. Richard Shiffman at Yale as part of the year #3 objectives of the project entitled “Guidelines into decision support (GLIDES).” The activities during the funding period ending 4/30/2011 are outlined in the following sections. The primary activities will include design and planning. Implementation will not occur during the proposed phases of work, but will hopefully occur as part of a subsequent implementation phase.

Clinical Objectives

Dr. Grundmeier and Mr. Karavite will identify opportunities to improve primary care for preterm infants using clinical decision support (CDS). Specifically, opportunities to improve the medical home for these vulnerable infants using CDS methods will be defined. To support the medical home for these infants, opportunities to improve interactions between primary care and selected subspecialists such as ophthalmology, audiology and neurology using CDS methods will be examined.
